It is our goal to be able to assist in funding outdoor experience programming annually for each grade level. WHAT IS OUTDOOR PROGRAMMING? The outdoor experience programs allows teachers to expand the learning that takes place in the classroom while giving the chance for students to exhibit skills not always visible in the traditional environment. For some students, this comes in the form taking a leadership role or contributing to a group activity while others who may struggle with paper, pen and book work have a chance to display strengths in other areas of life. These experiences often teach lifelong lessons in leadership, responsibility, friendship, and the world around us. The MSPA's first priority is funding a portion of the Chewonki Program (click for more info on chewonki) for every 6th grade student. To donate directly to Chewonki to help preserve this wonderful life lesson experience for future Cape students, please print the letter attached at the end of this page. All donations directly to the Chewonki Foundation, both personal and corporate sponsorship, are tax deductible.
Other programs funded for 2011-12 school year include Camp Ketcha for Grades 7 and 8. We hope to be able to provide funding for these programs in the future. We have also been able to fund a portion of transportation costs to the Freedom Trail for all 5th Graders.
Historically the Sally Foster proceeds have funded these programs. Future MSPA funding sources for these programs will be the Close Buy catalog Fall Sale and Clynk bottle monies. |
